ROTC Students pose in uniform with a UT Texas Army ROTC Flag and plaque while showing the UT Hookem sign with their hands

The University of Texas at Austin Tower will turn orange Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, in honor of the university’s Army ROTC Ranger Challenge Team, which won the 2015 Fifth Brigade Ranger Challenge Competition.

The two-day competition challenges cadets mentally and physically, enhances leadership, critical thinking and team cohesion, develops healthy competition among battalions and helps retain cadets.

After earning top scores in a handful of the competition’s events — including the grenade assault course, weapons disassembly and assembly, land navigation and physical fitness — the Texas Army ROTC team finished ahead of teams from the University of Colorado Boulder, the University of Arkansas, Texas Tech University and the University of Arizona.

The UT Austin team now advances to the International Sandhurst Competition at West Point in April.
