UT Tower lit burnt orange.

The UT Tower will be drenched in burnt orange lighting Saturday, February 24 in recognition of The University of Texas swimming and diving program’s impending victories at the Big 12 Championships.

The four-day event ends tonight at UT’s Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.  The men’s platform diving final begins at 4:30 p.m. CT while the swimming finals get underway at 6 p.m. CT.

Per UT tradition, the UT Tower is bathed in burnt orange lighting from top-to-bottom when a University of Texas athletics team wins a league title.

Under sixth-year head coach Carol Capitani, fifth-year associate head coach Roric Fink and 24th-year diving coach Matt Scoggin, the fourth-ranked Texas women have all but locked up their sixth consecutive Big 12 team title. UT leads the event with 703 points, well ahead of second-place West Virginia (434.5).

With a bevy of finalists tonight, the sixth-ranked Texas men are well-positioned to win their 39th consecutive conference title under 40th-year head coach Eddie Reese, second-year assistant coach Wyatt Collins and Scoggin.

With one session remaining, Texas leads with 723 points while West Virginia sits in second place with 611 points.  TCU holds third place with 444 points.
