Golfers celebrate on the green

The UT Tower will be lit in burnt orange Monday, May 16 to commemorate the Texas Women’s Golf 2022 Big 12 Conference Championship.

Per tradition, the University recognizes UT sports programs who win a conference team championship with a burnt orange lighting of the campus landmark.

The Longhorns claimed the title for the fourth time in the last five Big 12 Championships with 54-hole score of 24-over-par 876 (291-287-298) at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas on April 22-24. Texas won the tournament by three strokes over No. 6 Oklahoma State and No. 15 Baylor, who tied for second place. UT captured the conference championship title for the 17th time in program history (1984, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2011, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2022).

Last week, Texas finished second at the NCAA Albuquerque Regional and is set to return to the course for its sixth-straight NCAA Championship appearance later this week (May 20-25) at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Texas will tee off on the No. 1 tee starting at 2:25 p.m. CT on Friday.
