The No. 1/1 Texas women’s basketball team beat every team in the Southeastern Conference in their first year in the league as they captured a 72-46 win over Florida on Sunday, March 2, to earn SEC co-champion honors with South Carolina. The Longhorns did it on senior day, head coach Vic Schaefer‘s birthday and in front of their largest crowd of the season at 10,580.
Texas won their 13th straight game and finished the regular season with a record of 29-2 overall and 15-1 in the SEC. The record is their best since the 1987-88 season. Texas finished the regular season 15-0 at home.
Per University tradition, the campus landmark is bathed in orange when a Texas athletics team wins a conference championship.
