Track and field students shown behind a banner that reads 2016 Big 12 Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field Champions

The University of Texas at Austin Tower will glow with burnt orange lights on May 16 in honor of three Big 12 titles claimed by the Texas Track and Field teams.

Both the men’s and women’s track and field teams won the 2016 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday, and the women’s team also claimed the title at the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championship in February.

Per UT tradition, the Tower is bathed in burnt orange lighting from top-to-bottom when a UT Austin athletics team wins a conference championship.

With the sweep of the men’s and women’s titles outdoors, the Longhorns became the first school in Big 12 history to sweep the outdoor championship meet in back-to-back years.

The Tower will go orange at 8:45 p.m., and the team will gather for the traditional group photo at the Littlefield Fountain (21st Street & University Ave.) at approximately 8:30. The public is welcome to attend and congratulate the team.
