Texas women's track and field team celebrates their third-straight Big 12 title.

The UT Tower will be lit Monday, March 9 to honor the Texas Women’s Track and Field program after the Longhorns won their third-straight Big 12 Indoor Championship last month in Ames, Iowa. The women, ranked No. 10 nationally, scored a Big 12 Indoor-record 180.33 points en route to their triumphant victory.

Texas’ women won nine events, including a pair of relays, and had two performers – sophomore Julien Alfred and senior Kathryn Gillespie – receiving High Point Performer honors. Alfred (60m, 200m, 4x400m Relay) and Gillespie (800m, Mile, DMR) both won three conference titles, becoming the first Longhorns to do so indoors since Marshevet Hooker in 2006. Freshman Brooke Jaworski (600yd, 4x400m, DMR) also won a trio of Big 12 titles in her first conference meet.

Per UT tradition, the campus landmark is bathed in burnt orange lighting from top to bottom when a University of Texas athletics team wins a conference championship.
